Knocked Down Nine Times....Get Up Ten!

August 29, 2016

I was reminded of this encouraging motto when I came across this hatchling sea turtle on my morning walk on the beach in Hilton Head this week. It had been washed up on the shoreline down the beach from where it made its initial trek to the ocean from the nest. The hatchling seemed tired and confused. But after resting a bit, this tiny reptile began to S-L-O-W-L-Y inch toward the ocean to fulfill nature’s call. Time and again, at the waters edge, the waves knocked the tiny creature back on the sand.   Each time, the hatchling regrouped and once again moved forward until success was achieved.

How do you deal with the setbacks you encounter? Hopefully, like the little sea turtle, you are able to gather your strength and move forward. After a few weeks away from the studio with time to relax and replenish, I’m ready to get back to work. I’ve got lots of custom projects to create for a variety of people. I’ll make some shapes for the first time and some familiar favorites too. I’ve got lots to look forward to! Is there something I can make for you?

Sea Turtles were a big theme for me when we lived in Hilton Head. I loved the random texture combinations I used on the large platter and made the smaller versions to hold a pen and pad, recipe card or photo!
